I also use the D-Fend Reloaded front end for DosBox, which makes using DosBox a lot easier.

I couldn't find the Fritz 2 download from this site, so I used the download from Ed Schroder's site: I was able to get Fritz 2 to work in DosBox (Windows 7). Save & close the configuration file, then run DOSBox and it should automatically come up with Fritz2. If you are going to use DOSBox only for Fritz2, then you can instead put "cdir c:\fritz2" (or whatever you named the directory that Fritz2 is in), then under that put the name of the.

Oh you may have to put in "cdir c:\" on a line after the "mount" command, which will get you to the c:\> prompt. Put "mount c c:\dos" at the end of the DOSBox configuration file in the DOSBox folder, and then run DOSBox. So to make it easy, make a folder called "DOS" on your hard drive (assuming it will be the c: drive), then make another folder inside that one called "Fritz2" or whatever, then put the Fritz2 program in that folder. Then I can use the cdir command to go to the directory of whatever program I want to run (actually, I use an excellent DOS-based menu program called Access, and have even set up Windows 3.11 to run under DOSBox). This makes the DOS directory appear as the C:\ directory when I run DOSBox. In the DOSBox configuation file, at the very end you can add lines to act like a batch file. To run DOS under DOSBox, you have to mount the drives you want to use. To run all my DOS programs under DOSBox, I set up a directory on my hard drive called DOS in which I put all the folders containing all the different DOS programs. That's kind of like saying a Model T has more horsepower than a Corvette! I am incapable of believing that the antiquated Fritz 2 can play "more aggresively" or more anything else than any of these engines. PS: Fritz by Chess Base and Fritz Chess by Viva Media both appear to be the same thing, Fritz Chess includes older versions of Fritz.Īfter you buy one of these infinitely superior versions (because they will work under XP if nothing else) you can also download 3 free, awesome chess engines and use them with Fritz: Houdini, Firebird and Stockfish. Look in amazon for cheap versions of Fritz 11:

Windows cannot access the file D:\TIMEWIN.EXE for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer or the disk is missing. Is it the greatest music for a game ever or what?īTW, here the errors XP records when you cut the scenes and the game exits:

If anyone has it, feel free to share the fixed file.although I wonder how that guy fixed it when it's on the CD-ROM and if you copy the files to a new disk without a full "diskcopy" the soundtrack would be lost.Įach time I cut the scenes and the game exited, the CD-ROM's music started so I know it by heart now. I read in one forum PE Explorer () can fix this file. While at it, I also found out I must click on TIMEWIN.EXE (the main EXE I talked about) directly instead of starting the game via the CD-ROM. I wonder if I used to have a solution for this or my memory just tricks me that I did. It's weird I just forgot it's needed to see the long intro and the levels' intros. Just installed it, did what I said earlier and the answer is.no.
